SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, which is is intended to confirm whether an email message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a domain name will stop the counterfeiting of emails created with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this function for a domain name makes a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP addresses of the servers which are permitted to send email messages from mailboxes under the domain. When this record propagates globally, it will exist on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Any time an e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses verifies if it originates from an authorized server. When it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, yet if it does not originate from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it is rejected. In this way nobody will mask an email address then make it appear as if you're e-mailing spam messages. This method is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a few clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to use it is to pick one of your domain names from the drop-down list and type in the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be permitted to send emails from your email addresses. As an added option you can also restrict the messages to be sent from your domain name only when it has our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This feature will give you the highest level of protection, but it is not applicable in case only your site is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain name are managed in a different place. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses secure from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection function is featured with all of the Linux semi-dedicated packages, so if you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you will be able to use this particular service effortlessly for all of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a rather intuitive interface, therefore you won't have to be proficient in the use of computers in order to secure your emails. You will simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be authorized to send out emails from your addresses and right after that the updated record will be active for the domain name that you have selected. As an extra option, we also give you the ability to limit the outgoing e-mail messages and protect your mailboxes even better by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain name involved features our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain should be managed by us and not by a different supplier. Doing so you'll have even better control and there won't be a chance for anyone to counterfeit your e-mail addresses for malicious objectives.
